Larmer Tree Festival Turns 20!

Larmer Tree Festival is this year triumphantly celebrating its 20^th birthday, cementing its place as the UK’s number one small, independent summer festival! The festival’s diverse line-up of performers, alongside its laid-back and welcoming atmosphere, will continue to build on the enviable reputation the event has crafted since 1990.

Situated on the picturesque borders of Wiltshire and Dorset, July’s Larmer Tree Festival holds a special place in the hearts of thousands of festival goers who continue to return year after year. The vibrant combination of world-class music, street theatre, comedy, fringe entertainment and children’s workshops, creates a much loved atmosphere which is unrivalled by other UK music festivals.

Larmer Tree Festival has grown organically, from a small collection of music lovers, to a five day arts and music extravaganza. To ensure an intimate and welcoming environment for all ages, Larmer Tree Festival limits its tickets to just 4000. For the past 15 years, the festival has sold-out, making it one of the most consistently successful boutique festivals in the country! One visit to this magical event and you’ll see why Larmer Tree Festival won the Best Family Festival award at the UK Festival Awards 2008.

Despite continual offers, the festival remains completely free of corporate sponsorship. This ensures Larmer Tree Festival remains a haven of creativity, in which festival-goers are encouraged to truly get involved, by interacting with the musicians and entertainers, and participating in craft tents and workshops.  This independent nature ensures an unforgettable weekend in the sumptuous setting of the Larmer Tree Victorian pleasure gardens.

The perfect escape from the trials of everyday life, festival goers abandon work pressures each year to show up in their droves. The accessible carnival atmosphere and interactivity have long since been ingrained into the heart of Larmer Tree Festival. Of course, if you’d just like to wander around the gardens in your own relaxed hazy bubble, that’s ok too!

The Directors are poised to announce another eagerly awaited line-up of stellar acts for 2010’s landmark festival. Incorporating world music, folk, reggae, ska, Americana, blues, indie, jazz and everything in between, Larmer Tree Festival is well-known for its treasure chest of musical talent. This all-encompassing celebration is a cultural hub of innovation, embracing an array of talent from across the world. In 2009, Larmer Tree Festival saw music royalty Jools Holland joined on-stage by long time confidant Dave Edmunds. Also present were rockabilly princess Imelda May, Ivor Novello award winner Richard Thompson and Songlines World Music award winner, Rokia Traoré.

Tickets for all five days are priced at just £184 for adults, £152 for 11-17 year olds and £124 for 5-10 year olds, with entrance for under fives free of charge. Various ticketing options are available for those wishing to attend selected days of the festival.
