Delta Anchor Ground Pegs
After camping at Latitude festival where the ground was quite hard all of our tent pegs for our Bell Tent were bent, and in the stormy weather our Tarp only just withstood the beating it took from the weather as the pegs kept pulling up. So on our return the first thing we did was look in to replacing the tent pegs. After many positive mentions of Delta Ground Pegs we ordered some to test out with our Bell Tent and canvas Tarp

Review:
The Delta Ground Anchors have a number of clear advantages over conventional tent pegs. They have an increased surface area for resistance and a remote point of attachment to minimise leverage, therefore taking a stronger hold on the ground.
The weakness of basic pegs is that all the force is acting at the end of the peg creating great leverage. This means that the peg may either be pulled through soft ground or be bent. This has happened to us more often than not recently and the Ground Anchors seemed to be the answer instead of re-purchasing new pegs after each camping expedition or waking up all hours to peg the Bell Tent down again in a storm.
Delta Ground Anchors, unlike normal tent pegs, have the line of force applying to the centre of the peg which is below the ground level. Therefore any force is equally applied along the whole length of the peg, resulting in no leverage. These pegs are wider than average giving a greater surface area to resist force against.
The first few pegs that we inserted in to the ground, we followed the instructions with, and placed at an angle to push in to the ground. However as they are designed with an angle to the peg they slid in at an angle, so we would recommend hammering them in straight as the earth pulls them at an angle.
These pegs were tested in firm dry soil and also rain sodden soil and they withstood the elements. Our tarp barely moved in the rain storms at Plaw Hatch Farm allowing us to have a campfire to keep us warm and dry.
The rigidity and the durability of the nylon composite tent pegs guarantee easy insertion and extraction time and time again. An issue with these pegs is that they are much larger than standard pegs. Also they do come out covered in more earth than your average pegs, but you only need to soak them in a bucket of water to get off any excess mud.
I would not use these pegs for pegging out all parts of the tent, just for the guy ropes that take a lot of pressure and add structure to the tent.
Delta Anchor Ground Pegs are now an essential part of our camping kit and we will not be relying on the cheaper alternatives when it comes to our quality tent and tarps. These are heavy duty pegs that make camping in harsh weather a possibility.
