Review
The design of the Coleman Fold ‘n’ Go is compact, and lightweight. The stove is a double burner with a handy folding mechanism that allows the stove to fold up as a carry case. This is perfect for storage and easy transportation. The stove is quite stylish and would look good in any pitch, VW campervan or picnic table.
The InstaStart ignition allows for a quick start up, and if by any chance the flames die down, an instant re-start.
The boil time does seem a little longer than normal but this is perhaps because we were using the stove in an unsheltered position. This is where we would suggest that you use some form of a windbreak as the stove does not come with its own windscreen. One canister of Coleman Propane should give you around an hours cooking at full flow, it is worth having spares as the propane canisters are not always available at your smaller camping stores. However, at the time of this review Go Outdoors were doing a special offer on 4 Coleman Propane canisters for £13 instead of the usual price of £11 for 2. This makes this stove incredibly cost effective too.
The noise from the burners is the only real negative of this stove. The burn of the gas is noisy especially when there are two running. This is not the quietest of stoves but all the other positives far outweigh the slight negative of the noise. The other issue is that the dials are almost full on. It is hard to get a low heat without loosing the flame when turning the dials down.
The actual stove itself has two heavy duty removable pot supports, with a large spacing between two rings, so that you can use decent sized pans not just the smaller camp cookery equipment. If you fancy cooking up some Fajitas or a stir fry you can still use a decent size cast iron skillet or fry pan.
You need to ensure that the stove is on a flat surface so that the propane canister is supported at the correct angle, so find a level space on the floor or use a table to support the stove.
Packing up is a joy with this stove, you don’t need to take it completely apart to clean up. All you do is switch it off, allow to cool, remove the pan supports, wipe down the stove, turn the pan supports upside down, unscrew the gas canister and regulator tube, fold and close. A contemporary piece of camping equipment.
Recommended: All campers alike, but a quality festival stove.
