Cool Camping Europe is a handy reference book and a great camping wish list for us to work our way through. If you fancy staying in France in South African style Safari huts run by a Dutch couple with a typically south of france styled swimming pool or if you fancy a tipi in Andalucia then this book has plenty of ideas for you to start with.

This book gives a range of suggestions for the camper looking for something a bit special.

Thyen camp in particular is one that I had not heard of and am intending to book a trip to in the summer. This campsite looks like a perfect retreat, an ecological ideal, and a back to basics hideaway. "when the sun comes out campers sunbathe on the clover-carpeted grass and enjoy afternoon snoozes beneath shading boughs. If all you can hear are the sounds of the breeze rustling through the leaves or the spluttery coughs of a nearby tractor, you can feel your city stresses evaporating as quickly as the morning dew" Perfect!

Packed full of photography that inspires me to get out my rucksack, pack my camping equipment, and book a flight or ferry to discover these hidden gems.

Towards the rear of the book are useful phrases and words to get you along on your travels. My only suggestion would be that some advice about how to get to these places in the most cost effective way would be appreciated so I can make the most of all of them. I wonder how long it will take me to plan my trip around the Greek islands......
