Cool Camping Guide to Festivals

Cool Camping FestivalsSo just how many festivals are there in the UK alone, let alone Europe and the rest of the world? Which ones do you choose to go to? Wish there was a way to make your choices easier or looking for something a bit different? If you still haven't made your choice after looking at e-festivals, Virtual festivals or after reading our features then this book might just be the inspiration that you are looking for.

Author: Sam Pow

The publishers of the Cool Camping series of books, Punk Publishing, have released a brand spanking new guide to 50 festivals in the UK and abroad, that they consider to be the best of the crop. This guide is a collection of festivals independently reviewed and listed for their individual styles and qualities. Such as eco-friendly festivals, like Sunrise Celebration, beachdown, 2000 trees and the isle of Wight festival. "Not that long ago, calls to cleanse the world ethically and environmentally were ignored by all but the new-age hippies. Not so anymore. Global warming has become the sujet du jour and some festivals are keener than most to roll up their sleeves and help save the planet" The book covers a variety of festivals from the downright civilized to the full on parties.

Cool camping Guide to festivals is written by festival veteran and entertainment critic Sam Pow (Time Out, the Independent). She guides readers through the highlights of the worlds festivals to give us a glimpse of the festivals on offer.

This book has a mixture of reviews, interviews, and alternative suggestions, complimented by beautiful and atmospheric photography. Leafing through the pictures brings back memories of various festivals I've been to and inspires me to try new festivals that I had not thought of before. I think I will be taking a closer look at 2000 trees as an alternative to the larger corporate festivals as I am always "craving underground sounds in a beautiful setting" and fancy trying some of the local ales and produce on offer but in particular the Badger's Bottom Cider brewed just down the road from the festival.

This book is more of a snapshot of the festivals on offer than a useful guide to how to survive festivals. But there will be a copy on my coffee table to remind me of the festivals to come each year and to give me a few ideas of new festivals to attend.
